Maya has always had my heart...could have something to do with her asking me to introduce her to photography as a wide-eyed 8th grader at Buist. :-) We went to shoot for a school project at Respite Care Charleston, where her mother worked, and where she was already quite sensitive and compassionate, meshing the delicate balance of being photographer/observer with actively engaging with the dementia patients to elicit expressions for the camera.
An accomplished and dedicated swimmer, caring friend, independent daughter, and stellar student - Maya is now on her way to the next chapter..Smith College. I know her parents and grandparents have prepared her well for this journey and I wish her all the luck in the world!
